How AlphaPWR measurements compared with a laboratory reference

In brief

This evaluation compared concurrent AlphaPWR and laboratory-reference measurements during countermovement jumps. Across 124 analysed jumps, the reported mean biases were small for the assessed metrics. Jump height differed by -0.22% on average, while mean and peak force differed by approximately 1.1% and 1.17% respectively.

What was studied

Five recreational athletes completed countermovement jumps with AlphaPWR V2.0 positioned over an in-ground AMTI reference system. The analysis included 124 matched jumps plus a separate calibrated static-load comparison. Both datasets were analysed using the same script.

What the source reported

  1. 01

The reported mean bias for jump height was -0.06 cm, or -0.22%.

  2. 02

Mean force and peak force showed reported mean biases of 1.1% and 1.17%.

  3. 03

The paper reported small typical errors and trivial effect sizes across the assessed metrics.

How to interpret the findings

The participant sample was small and the evaluation focused on one jumping protocol. The results support the reported metrics in this setup, not every activity or software output produced by the platform. One co-author reports holding a position at Alphatek.
