We met as engineering students in Formula Student. Together, we built an electric racing car and took it to Silverstone in England. After graduating, we wanted to keep creating things together. We just did not know what yet.
Åsmund is an exercise physiologist and personal trainer. We met him through Erik, who had worked with him at a gym. At the time, Åsmund was setting up a physiology testing lab and needed a force plate. The options on the market were too expensive and difficult to use. That need became the starting point for Alphatek.
Development began in a basement in Rogaland. Through building, testing and many discussions, we discovered that the platform could do more than measure jumps. It could give feedback during other exercises too. We began exploring how measurements could become part of the training experience itself.
We want more people to experience a sense of achievement and feel motivated to keep training. That is why we make progress visible and provide feedback that helps people understand what they are doing well and what they can work on next. In this way, we aim to encourage more movement in everyday life and contribute to better public health.
We developed the mechanics, circuit boards, electronics, software and AI models ourselves. This lets us work on the whole connection between a measurement and what the user sees on screen.
The physical platform and its electronics record what happens as you move.

The software and models process the measurements and make them available in the product.

Colours, visual feedback and game elements give the user something tangible to respond to and work with.

We want to help our customers help theirs. That means understanding both the person training and the day-to-day work of the professional supporting them.
What does the patient need to understand? What should the personal trainer follow up on? We try to understand the needs behind a customer's request before we agree on a solution.
Everyone on the team can contribute. We discuss the arguments for and against, open to the possibility that someone else has a better idea.
We test what we make and learn from what happens in practice. An engaging experience should have a sound professional basis and measurements the customer can trust.
Progress might mean improving a sporting performance, regaining a function or getting started with exercise. We want more people to feel like trying again and find enjoyment in the work along the way.
We also see long-term potential in using measurements of real movements to develop better algorithms and new features. It is a direction we want to explore further with customers, practitioners and partners.
