Appearance

Oilers use Alphatek for strength training, pushup and pull with feedback on the screen.

Sport and education

From measurement to the next session.

Alphatek combines a force plate, a large screen and software for testing and training. Athletes and students get feedback as they take part, while coaches and teachers can use the measurements for guidance and ongoing support.

What should the measurement help you do?

Connect measurements to what you want to develop. Use the results to inform training and follow-up.

Assess capacity

Choose relevant strength and jump tests to establish a starting point for training.

Adjust training

Use the feedback on screen to follow effort and execution during the session.

Track progress

Repeat measurements with the same setup and use the results to review the training programme.

Adapt your training to how you feel today

Alphatek helps you manage load and repetitions in reserve (RIR) in the squat. Feedback during the exercise helps you adapt your training to your readiness on the day. This is what we mean by autoregulation.

  1. Start the set

Perform squats with feedback on the screen.

  2. Follow your response

See how you respond to the load today.

  3. Adapt your training

Use the feedback to adjust load and RIR based on your readiness today.

Product film without sound. The Alphatek platform with its force plate sensor and display is shown from several angles. The display shows measurements and feedback from exercises, with the captions “Advanced measurements. Simply explained.” and “Apps designed for fitness centres, clinics and sports”. Finally, a Fitness Age result appears on a phone.

Product film: the Alphatek platform

From testing days to everyday training

Establish each athlete’s starting point, follow development over time and use the results in training. This applies to teams, clubs and students in sports programmes.

Testing day

Establish a starting point on a testing day. The coach and athlete review the results together.

An athlete and a practitioner review a tablet together.

Follow development

Repeat the same tests after a period of training and see how the athlete has developed.

A participant hops on one leg on the Alphatek platform while a guide observes with a tablet.

Returning after injury

Test one leg at a time, including hop tests. The results can complement other monitoring on the way back to sport.

Measurements compared with a laboratory force plate

Comparison
Countermovement jumps measured at the same time with Alphatek and an AMTI force plate set into the floor, across 124 jumps.
Finding
Jump height differed by 0.22% on average. Mean force and peak force differed by about 1.1% and 1.2%.
Limitation
Five recreational athletes and one jump protocol. It does not cover every test. One of the authors holds a position at Alphatek.

Feedback with colour codes in the squat

Comparison
35 ice hockey players over ten weeks. Velocity loss feedback with colour codes compared with a display of lifting velocity. Both groups trained with Alphatek.
Finding
The group with colour codes completed more repetitions and made larger gains in squat 1RM and jump height.
Limitation
The groups trained different volumes, so the feedback format cannot be separated from the extra work. Other outcomes showed no difference.

Tests and results

See what you can test, and the results you get

The result appears on screen straight away, so the athlete and coach can use it during the session.

The Alphatek screen shows a countermovement jump result with jump height and other values.

Jump tests

Jump height, flight time and modified RSI, with force, impulse and RFD in the braking and propulsive phases.

The Alphatek screen shows velocity and velocity loss during a squat.

Squat VBT

Velocity (m/s), velocity loss (%) and power (W) for every repetition as you train.

The Alphatek screen shows a force curve from an isometric test.

Isometric strength

Peak force (N), RFD over the first 100 ms and time to peak force, using a fixed setup.

The Alphatek screen shows force curves and history from a Nordic hamstring exercise.

Nordic hamstring

Peak force, impulse and time above 80% of peak force per repetition, compared with earlier sets.

One system in the training facility

A force platform, a large screen and a phone as the remote control. The athlete sees the exercise and the feedback on screen while the coach runs the assessment from a phone. It is always ready to use, without charging or Bluetooth pairing.

Explore the platformWhy Alphatek?
An athlete performs a squat on the Alphatek platform while others observe.
  • Force platform

The force plate you stand on records the force in each exercise. These measurements form the basis of the assessment.

  • Large screen

The large screen shows the exercise, guides you through the assessment and provides real-time feedback.

  • Control from your phone

The phone is the remote control. Choose the athlete and assessment, then start the exercises when you are ready.

  • Strength training with a barbell

With a barbell on the platform, you can train squats and follow lifting velocity and power directly on the screen.

From setup to a regular routine

Start with one use, learn the system and agree who is responsible. Then make testing and feedback part of the training plan.

Choose a purpose

Start with one thing: a testing day, monitoring through the season or feedback in strength training.

Workshop for coaches

Alphatek runs a workshop where coaches learn to use the system in everyday training.
